The plans are Developing

In 2010, year 10 students were presented with the possibility of a tour to Cambodia to work in an orphanage south of Phnom Penh and learn a little history of this war ravaged country. The students wrote applications explaining why they wanted to go, what they wanted to achieve and what they thought they could contribute. Many students applied but only 12 could participate in this inaugural tour to Cambodia- a beautiful country of vast contrasts.

It was a hard decision, choosing 12 students - but it was to be 6 boys and 6 girls. They will each be writing a daily entry on this blog, keeping our community up to date on their travels and work. They are in for interesting times, with amazing sights (and sites), beautiful people and an engaging history. Changes don't come quickly in Cambodia, but I am sure our students will come back changed....it will be a life changing experience, one I hope will open their eyes and understanding and encourage a world of future volunteer work.

On Wednesday 15th we had a huge packing afternoon with the many donations the students had received. We are all very thankful for the generosity of so many people. The clothes will be warmly received. They are now sorted and ready to go.

We are ready and excited! Bring on July 7th!

The boys being given directions on what to pack and what "Does not match"

With every box, came more clothes. Even long sleeved clothes are welcome - it does get cold in Cambodia, just not as cold as we think it should be to warrant wearing jumpers
One bag packed, one hundred or more to go......and oh so many pieces to sort through for "mix n match"
